1) The first person I contacted was one of my friends who's name is Marcus. He is a business student and just in general a very knowledgable and talented person when it comes to anything regarding start-ups. I could imagine him being the domain expert because he has worked in retail already and knows what is going on. He is currently attending the University of California, Berkeley and is majoring in Finance. What he did for me is stating all the problems that one can come up with. Since he is very thorough he finds all the things that are not obvious at first sight, which is something I highly value. Including him in my network will solely have benefits for me. Since we understand each other on a friendly level, he does not expect anything in return.
2) The second person I contacted is my Dad. He is an expert in supply chain and has been with the logistics company Chep for over two decades. The advantages are countless. He knows everything that is going on with supermarket chains and their supply chain. I would learn how to effectively source and evaluate suppliers and have a great network of people with my dad. Of course he would have the role of the supplier and expect nothing in return apart from the fact that I am happy.
3)The third person I contacted was the owner of a local supermarket in Germany. In Germany they already implemented that people use almost no plastic bags, which is why he has expertise in what measurements one has to take to achieve this goal. He also knows what people value in a reusable bag.
Hello Viet,
ReplyDeleteI like the three people you interviewed. I think having a friend like Marcus is very helpful when he is knowledgeable in both the business and retail world. I also think that having someone oversees is very insightful. I think that having that connection will allow you to see how it works elsewhere and apply that to your business model.
As I said in another group mates blog, having connections makes things faster and easier. Every business shares these aspects of business in common. It is important to make connections now so that way we can hopefully use them to each others benefit in the future.
